City of Liverpool Annual Sports Awards 

Liverpool celebrates the high sporting achievements of local youngsters with an annual Civic Reception. 

The evening, presided over by the Lord Mayor, underlines the value placed on sport by the city. Previous winners of the "Young Sports Person of the Year" include Beth Tweddle, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, John Paul Kissock, Boxer Steven Smith and Swimmer Francesca Halsall.

In order to apply athletes should be resident, go to school or represent a club within the city boundary.  Achievements must be of national significance. For example, selection for their country, or winning a gold, silver or bronze medal in national competition.
